 Charlene Lorette Behrens, 90, of Princeton died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at her home.

She was born June 28, 1928, in Ottville, the daughter of Charles and Lauretta (Fenwick) Gibson. Charlene lived with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Fenwick. She married Robert E. Behrens on Oct. 31, 1948, at the Methodist church in Princeton. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2002. They shared 53 years together.

She graduated from LaMoille High School, with the Class of 1946, and Browns Business College in LaSalle. She worked at the Bureau County Courthouse and Princeton Elementary School for many years.

She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star for 60 years, the First United Methodist Church in Princeton and the Women of the Moose. Charlene volunteered at The Closet in Princeton and the United Methodist Church. She loved to travel with friends and family.

Surviving are three sons, Robert (Paula) Behrens of Colorado, George (Luanne) Behrens of Princeton and Paul Behrens of Woodbridge, Va.; three daughters, Lauretta (Richard) DeBoers of Clearwater, Fla., Cynthia (Bruce) Loding of Silvis and Betty (Michael) Hinderliter of Woodbridge, Va.; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, with the 24th on the way; and one brother, Roland (Marlene) Gibson of Princeton.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton.
