Carl Eugene Lund
January 27, 1949 ~ March 29, 2023
Carl Eugene Lund, 74, of Tiskilwa, died Wednesday, March 29, 2023, peacefully in his sleep after his battle with cancer. He was born January 27, 1949, in Princeton, Illinois, to Carl E. and Louise (Marconi) Lund.
He married Susan Marie Nevitt on June 25, 1969, in Princeton. Carl was an avid fisherman, who was a self-proclaimed “fish whisperer” and loved camping, family, and friends. He drove semi for himself and for Byrtle Nevitt in Tiskilwa and was a union carpenter and millwright for Local 195, and later for Koolmaster in LaSalle, before retiring in 2007. After retirement, he drove semi to keep busy for James Lund Trucking and Rapp Farms. He attended Princeton High School and his junior year at Ottawa-Marquette High School. He later attended the Morrison Institute of Technology for architecture.
He was happily married to Susan Nevitt for 53 years, his best friend. Carl is survived by his wife, his sons, James (Mironda) Lund of Princeton, Kevin (Amber) Lund of Princeton, and Martin Lund of Woodridge. Grandchildren; Collin, Jennifer, Justine, Jordan, JD, and Dacia. He is also survived by 9 great-grandkids, his sister Kathy Leathers of Tampico, special cousins Richelle, Angie, Ken, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wayne Lund, sisters Carol Headley, Sharon Hand, Sandie Anderson, and great-grandchild Evelyn.
Carl loved to teach kids about fishing and making “cat” noises. He enjoyed trips with Susan to Italy and Ireland after retirement and many trips to Canada for fishing. Carl’s perfect day would be when he found a PBR “pounder” at a bar with a Minnesota Vikings Game on, while playing video slots. Carl loved to pull together a fish fry for everyone and serve Susie’s “Internationally Famous" Coleslaw.
There will be a memorial service from 10am-1pm on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton, IL.
