On Thursday February 25 2021 Candace DeShazo, Loving devoted Mother of Benjamin, Cherished Daughter of Darwin and Connie Pierson, Sweet Sister and Amazing Aunt passed away suddenly at the age of 39.  Candace was born July 10 1981 in Princeton, Illinois to Darwin and Connie Pierson.  Candace graduated from Bureau Valley High School where she enjoyed her friends, teachers, and a multitude of activities and sports.  Candace attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale for a time and then made her home in Murphysboro, Illinois.  

Candace adored and loved her son Benjamin "To the Moon and Back".  Candace had the most fun with Ben watching movies, playing at the park, going out to eat, attending baseball games and cheering him on while bowling.  Candace was Ben's biggest fan in the whole world.  Candace cherished her time with family and friends.  Candace was always concerned about everyone despite her own obstacles in life.  

Candace was an avid church-goer and read her bible daily.  She attended her local Lutheran Church.  Candace prayed for her family and friends constantly. Candace loved our Lord Jesus with her whole heart.  

Candace had a passion for children and spent a wonderful summer as a Nanny to her niece-Kaliapi whom she absolutely adored.  Candace was always happy to help those in need with prayers, donations, kind words, babysitting for friends and most of all taking care of her beloved Mother Connie as well as being a personal assistant to her Father Darwin.  Suzanne Pierson was her shining Star and Candace's days were brightened up by her many visits, dinners, movies, as well as shopping.  Lynae Pierson was her guiding Light and pathway protector.  Candace relished her time spent with her sisters and considered them as best friends.  Candace enjoyed family vacations to Florida and Gulf Shores.  She loved Clearwater Beach.  Candace had a passion for photography and scrapbooking.  Rest in eternal Peace Beautiful Sweet Sister Candace!

Candace was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents in addition to aunts and uncles.  

Candace is survived by her son Benjamin, her parents Darwin and Connie Pierson, her sisters Suzanne (Kevin Doyle) Pierson of Edwardsville, Illinois and Lynae (Stephen Kovach) Pierson of Columbus, Ohio as well as one brother Kendall (Satjeet) Pierson of Albuquerque, New Mexico and her nieces Kaeleigh Kovach, Kaliapi Kovach, Kira Mangam, and nephews Logan Pierson and Andrew Doyle.  

A visitation will be held Friday March 5, 2021 from 5-7 pm at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton, Illinois.  Her funeral will be held Saturday March 6 at 11am at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton, Illinois with burial following in Yorktown Cemetery with Rev. Bill Shields officiating.  Memorials may be directed to Arukah Institute of Healing or the Bureau Valley High School Class of 1999 Mental Health Awareness Scholarship honoring Candace DeShazo.
