Bruce D. Obenhaus

Bruce D. Obenhaus, 92, of Princeton, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Manor Court in Princeton. He was born on November 27, 1930 in Sandwich, Illinois to Dexter and Vivian (Keigwan) Obenhaus. He married Anita Meyer on January 2, 1951 in Sandwich, Illinois.

Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Anita; two daughters, Gretchen Norton, Kimberly (Edwin) Wolfer; two sons,  Gary (Margo) Obenhaus, Todd (Marcia) Obenhaus; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Nancy Shapiro and Gretchen Obenhaus; a son-in-law, Michael Norton; and grandson, Thomas Norton.

Bruce was a dedicated veteran who served for the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was an outdoors man who loved anything to do with nature or firearms. Bruce was a life-long farmer who worked very hard. He would spend his free time stalking the grain markets. Bruce also enjoyed old, classic cars and trucks.

Graveside services will be private. Military rites will be accorded by the Princeton Veterans Group. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to The Bureau County Historical Society C/O Bruce Obenhaus, 109 Park Ave West, Princeton, Illinois 61356
