Bill B. Bomleny, 85, of Bradford passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012, at his home. Born March 22, 1927, in Sheffield, Ill., to Sam and Clara (VanDeHande) Bomleny, he married Maxine P. Scott in Bradford, Ill., on Feb. 18, 1950. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Steve (Elaine) Bomleny of Sheffield; two daughters, Sue (Dennis) Taylor of Buda and Mary Ann (Brett) Shatto of Chillicothe; eight grandchildren, Amy (Justin) Hardin, Greg (Emily) Bomleny, Lori (Andy) Franks, Jeff (Jenny Femali) Bomleny, Mark (Brooke) Bomleny, Alyce, Kara and Ryan Shatto; four stepgrandchildren, Lisa (Jose'') Garcia, Kurt (April) Taylor, Steven (Nicole) Taylor and Brian Taylor; seven great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Leona O''Leary of Los Angeles, Calif., and Lynn Hild of Colorado Springs, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bernice Corrigan; and great-grandson, Samuel James Bomleny. He was a graduate of Bradford High School in 1945. He was a lifetime farmer and also sold seed corn for Wyffels Hybred Seed Corn Company since 1975. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bradford, Bradford American Legion No. 445 and Knights of Columbus. He served in the Navy as Seaman 1st Class during World War II. Services will be Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Father Vien Van Do will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in rural Bradford. Bradford American Legion No. 445 will accord military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford. A rosary service will be Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society or to the donor''s choice. Pallbearers will be Greg, Jeff and Mark Bomleny, Craig and Curt Corrigan and Ryan Shatto. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Scott, Jim Eble, Jack Iman, Denny Derick, Phil Code and Paul Barry.

  1. It’s hard to believe he is no longer with us. Like with Dad and Mom, I can’t believe either one are gone, but I know we have so many wonderful memories of the three of them that they will always be close to us in our hearts. I’m here for you guys anytime for anything…just call. Love you all.
