Beverly Todd Grant, 88, of Wyanet, Illinois, died Sunday, September 8, 2019 at her home.

She was born April 29, 1931 in Victoria, IL to Archie and Marie (LaFollette) Todd. She attended LaFayette School for 10 years and finished her high school at Princeton High School. Beverly married Steve Grant March 9, 1969. He passed away November 14, 2010.

Her children are: Ronald Beaber (deceased) and Kathie Anderson, of Henry, IL, Jerry Van Autreve and Jim VanAutreve, both of Spring Valley, and Jeff (Dana) VanAutreve of Tiskilwa. Her grandchildren are: Brian Sissel, children: Jordan and Jacob Sissel, Ann (Quentin) Yepson, children: Craig Sissel, Monica (Casey) Allen, children: Lilly, Landan, Lainey, and Lakota Allen, Matt Beaber, children: Megan and Zach Beaber, Andrea (Kevin) Frost, children: Joshua, Brandon, Katelynn, Hanna, and grandson Matthew, Samantha (Tim) Jackson, children: Deserae, Bradly, and Anthony Mayette and grandchildren: Aiden and Athena Sisemore, Emily (Tyler) Wolf, Bentley, Easton, Carter, and Keeley Wolf, Eli (Haley) VanAutreve, and Jamie VanAutreve.

Beverly had five sisters: Betty Cutshaw (deceased), Maxine Rednour (deceased), Marilyn Freidman (deceased), Elva Smith of Colorado, Martha Dozal of Florida. She also had one brother, Dwayne Todd (deceased).

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, siblings, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Beverly worked at Kroger’s Grocery and Hartmans Grocery Store, both in Princeton. She owned and served the community at Wyanet Restaurant for 10 years, and closed it in 1970. She also worked at Perry Memorial Hospital in the food service department and went on to retire from Wyanet Grade School as manager of the cafeteria. During her “retirement years” she served at Johnsons Carpet Shoppe part time.

Beverly’s favorite thing to do was teach ceramics for 38 years, with a shop in her own home. She loved working with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for over 25 years. She belonged to St. Louis Catholic Church and CCW, and was also a member of the Wyanet Historical Society.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery, Princeton, Illinois. Memorials may be directed to Second Story Teen Center, Princeton. Online condolences may be sent to www.grant-johnsonfh.com.

  1. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Mrs. Grant lived down the street from my parents, John and Virginia Allen. She was a very nice lady. Was always nice to me and would talk with me whenever I walked by her home on the way to mom and dad’s.
