Betty Mae Stewart, 88 a resident of McLean County Nursing Home, Normal, IL died at 4:30 am on March 1, 2016 at her residence. Betty was born January 25, 1928, in Oak Hill, IL, the daughter of Bernard and Edith (Savage) McIntyre. She married Robert Jesse Stewart on September 10, 1949, in Chillicothe, IL. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2000, in Bradford, IL. Also preceding her in death were three sons, Duane Jesse Stewart, Ronald Anthony Stewart, and Stephen Ray Stewart; three brothers, Leo McIntyre, Don McIntyre, and Arthur McIntyre; one sister, Eileen Moynihan. Surviving are one daughter, Evelyn (Gary) Ehlers of Towanda, IL; one grandson, Matthew (Jessica) Gumm of Bloomington, IL; 3 great-grandsons, Jackson, Jacob and Jude Sutton (Bloomington, IL); two sisters, Helen Crain and Lois Ratcliff, both of Peoria, IL; four sister-in-laws, Dorothy McIntyre of Longmont, CO, Jenny McIntyre of Chillicothe, IL, Kathryn Stewart of Dunlap, IL, and Helen Stewart of Wyoming, IL, several nieces and nephews, and many, many dear friends. Betty will be best remembered for her excellent baking skills. She decorated many birthday, graduation and wedding/anniversary cakes throughout her life. She also made excellent pies and yeast rolls. Also, while living in Bradford, she worked at Harper Wyman in Princeton, IL, Nelson Sprinkler Factory in Princeville, IL and was a rural mail carrier out of the Bradford Post Office and a volunteer EMT for the Bradford Rescue Squad. Funeral services at 11:30 am with Rev. Amy Holman officating. Visitation one hour prior to service at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Bradford, IL on Saturday, March 5, 2016. Burial will be in Lawn Ridge Cemetery, Lawn Ridge, IL Memorial contributions may be made to OSF Hospice, Normal, IL, Boyds Grove Methodist Church, Bradford, IL, or Bradford Rescue Squad.

  1. We will miss Betty. Our Conklin play nights won’t be the same without her. She was a great Mom and friend to all who knew her. She will be missed.
