Betty G. Balensiefen, 81, of Princeton, formerly of Buda, died at 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at her home. Born Oct. 14, 1928, in Milo Township, Bureau County, to William and Grace (Mayne) Wright, she married Virgil LeLand Balensiefen Jan. 28, 1956, at St. Mary''s Catholic Church. He survives. She was a 1946 graduate of Bradford High School. She was a farmer''s wife. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton. Also surviving are three daughters, Kim (Larry) Hicks of Peoria, Lorie (Les) Smith of Hennepin and Cara (David) Miner of Buda; one son, Kent (Cheryl) Balensiefen of Buda; five brothers, Robert E. Wright, David A. Wright and Rollin D. Wright, all of Tiskilwa, Sidney L. (Rita) Wright of Putnam and Glen R. (Judith) Wright of Bradford; two sisters, Bernadine Smith of Mendota and Donna (George) Pollock of Rushville; 11 grandchildren, Travis DeSplinter of Wyanet, Jordan Balensiefen, Coleann Balensiefen, Blake Balensiefen and Miranda Miner, all of Buda, Lauren Hicks of Peoria, Heather M. Miner of Texas, Travis Smith of Florida, Seletia Smith and Tyler Smith, both of Arkansas, and Leanne Smith of Hennepin; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son; two brothers, Stanley and Bill Wright; and one sister, Audrey Stroup. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Princeton, with the Rev. Jeffrey Stirniman officiating. Burial will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery, Buda. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, with a rosary service at 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton, St. Margaret''s Hospice in Spring Valley or the American Cancer Society.
