Betty Coomer

Betty Coomer, 88, of Sheffield, IL was called to heaven on May 30, 2016 at Colonial Hall in Princeton, IL. She was born on August 11, 1927 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the daughter of Elvin Thomas Harris and Blanche Mae (Hale ) Harris. She married Clarence Coomer on December 16, 1948 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He survives. Betty and Clarence made their home in Buda, Illinois where Clarence farmed and she took on the role of wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed her family more than anything. Betty became a faithful member of the Bunker Hill Church of God over 60 years ago. There she served as the church pianist, choir member, Sunday School teacher, Kid''s Klub teacher, Bible Study teacher, and served on various Missions Committees. She was also a faithful prayer warrior.She was also active in the Princeton Christian Business Women''s Club and served as the president with the organization for several years. Betty was devoted to serving the Lord. Betty was blessed with three loving children, Marcia (Terry) Burress of Princeton, Illinois, Pamela (Terry) Gutshall of Buda, Illinois, and Randall (Mary) Coomer of Sheffield, Illinois; eight adoring grandchildren, Teddi Burress(Brian Sudroth), Andrew Burress(Paulette Hill), Benjamin (Jennifer) Gutshall, Adam (Kylee) Gutshall, Ashley Gutshall, Jacob (Amanda) Coomer, Isaac Coomer, Maranda (Jacob)Kuelper; and eight darling great-grand children, Keaton Burress, KaidenCoomer, Eli Coomer, Deacon Gutshall, KiptonGutshall, Noah Gutshall, Leena Gutshall, and Cora Gutshall. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her only brother, James Harris, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and a neice and nephew. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 3rd at the Bunker Hill Church of God in Buda. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. at the Bunker Hill Church of God. Pastor Stephan Myong and Pastor Marcus Throneburg will officiate. Burial will take place at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Wyanet, friends and family welcome. Memorials may be made to the Bunker Hill Church of God.
Betty was a dear friend to me and our family. We attended the same schools, in Iowa. Our parents
were very good friends. and often got together.
Betty will be dearly missed. We send our love to
all her family and friends.
