Betty A. Goers, 88, died at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Aperion Care in Princeton. Born Feb. 17, 1930, in Benton, Ky., the daughter of Robert and Argainia (Holland) Smith, she married Bertram Goers June 15, 1954, in Murray, Ky. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2001. She earned her bachelor''s degree at Murray State University. She taught home economics at Altamont High School in Altamont and then focused on raising her children. Later, she worked at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Princeton, Sutliff Home Furnishings in Princeton and as a receptionist for a local dentist office. She enjoyed monthly bridge club, gardening and walking. She was involved in the Women''s Circle and quilters at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Mobile Meals as a volunteer, Perry Memorial Hospital as a Gold Coat Friends of Princeton Public Library. Surviving are one son, Michael (Kathy) Goers of Princeton; two daughters, Cindy Goers of Chicago and Celia Goers of Princeton; three grandchildren, Andrea, Amy and Trevor; and one great-granddaughter, Evie. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Private graveside services will be held, with burial in Oakland Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 7, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. Memorials may be directed to St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Princeton and Friends of Princeton Public Library.
