Bernadette Samet, born Dec. 3, 1946, in Chicago, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Woody and Mary Booker. She worked for General Motors Corporation for 10 years and upon moving to Princeton worked as a loan officer at Citizens First National Bank. She was active with Hardangers Club as a member and past president, was a volunteer for the Bureau County Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Bureau Valley Country Club. She is survived by her husband, Steve Samet of Princeton; her son Michael, daughter-in-law Lauren and grandson Justin of Charleston, S.C.; her sisters, Maureen Booker of Las Vegas and Mary Ann Kemp of Hawaii; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation rites will be accorded at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Homes, Inc. Crematory in Princeton. A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton with Father Jeffrey Stirniman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Private inurnment will be at a later date. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon after the services at Wise Guys in Princeton. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to VITAS Hospice.

    I sorry for your loss. Although I have not spoken with Bernadette since her wedding, I still remember the great holidays we cousins spent with the Booker/Molski clan. May God keep her and you during your time of mourning.

  8. Bernie was a very talented and wonderful gardener and cook. She was a devoted mother to Mike and to our daughter Lauren as her mother in law. But most of all she was a loving grandmother to our little Justin who spent a lot of time with his “Gigi” when they lived in Illinois. Our thoughts and prayers are with the extended Samet family and friends. Rest in peace dear Bernie.
