Barbara Patrick Carlson, 79 of the Villages, FL., died in Lady Lake, The Villages, on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. May 17, in Manlius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to DeMatha Catholic High School, 4313 Madision Street, Hyattsville, MD, 20781 Mrs. Carlson was born "Barbara Katherine" to Joseph Patrick and Anna Truth Patrick Loncar in Ambridge, PA on Sept. 16, 1930. She graduated from Ambridge High School. Her Career began with the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C. She was later employed by the National Security Agency at Fort George G. Mead, MD., as a senior executive secretary. She married James L. Carlson of Manlius on May 15, 1954, in Conway, PA. They lived in Virginia and Maryland for 34 years before moving to Naples, FL. While in Naples, she was employed as a receptionist at Vineyards Country Club and later, as an administrative assistant in the office of Jacobson Stores Inc. Barbara was a gourmet cook and baker. She loved sewing, needlework and crocheting, crossword puzzles, traveling, aerobic swimming and was an advid reader. Survivors include her husband James; daughter Deborah (Patrick) Dorbad; grandson Luke Purvis of Marco Island, FL; sisters, Margaret Fensler of Highland, CA., Patricia Korman of Conway, PA, and Geraldine (William) Presto of Baden, PA.; grandson Justin Carlson and his mother Karen of East Greenwich, R.I.; granddaughter Caitlyn Carlson of Boston; and 20 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; son Patrick; two sisters; four brothers; one niece, Susan Berry Klinefeld; and one nephew, Billy Presto.
