Barbara Ann Heuer

Barbara Ann Heuer, 88, of Wyanet, Illinois passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Henry Rehab and Nursing, Henry, Illinois.
She was born on June 17, 1933 at home the daughter of Ellis and Mary Ruth (Morris) Conkling.
Barbara married her beloved husband Gerald "Buster" Keith Heuer on August 16, 1952 at St. Louis Catholic Church, Princeton, Illinois. They shared nearly 60 years together. He preceded her in death July 28, 2011.
She is survived by two daughters: DeAnna Heuer Foran of Princeton and Lori (Greg) Cekander of The Woodlands, Texas; and five grandchildren: Becca (Dave) Heuer-Giunta of Evanston, Illinois, Phillip Heuer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Daniel Foran of Seattle, Washington, Jonathan Foran of Tacoma, Washington, Megan Cekander of Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Gary Heuer, her sister June Conkling Yohn and brother-in law, Frank Yohn.
Barbara attended Farmora School in rural Wyanet until the eighth grade and then went to Wyanet High School, graduating with the Class of 1951.
She was a bookkeeper for local businesses, such as Barker Milling and Grain and Wallace Brothers.
Barbara was a very active member of the St. Louis Catholic Church, Princeton, as well as her hometown mission church of St. Margaret Mary. She participated in the Altar Guild, Cursillo, and the CCW.
Once St. Margaret Mary closed she helped establish the Wyanet Historical Society in the retired church. Barbara was a member of the Wyanet Old Car Club, and the Daughters of the American Revolution, Princeton Chapter. She was active with her children's and grandchildren's school, sports, and church sponsored activities, including being a den mother for boy scouts. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, camping, and card club with her friends.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of Henry Nursing and Rehab for the love, dignity, and care they showed Barbara while she resided there.
A visitation will be held Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, Illinois with a Rosary service at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, Princeton, Illinois with Monsignor Kruse, officiating. Burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, in honor of Barbara, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, the Wyanet Community Club, or the Wyanet Historical Society. Such a special special lady. Her family was her life and she showed it in so many ways. So sorry for your loss, but the memories and love she shared with each of you was a special blessing!
My condolences to the family. Mrs. Heuer was a fantastic lady. I do not know how many mornings she welcomed me into her home to walk to school with Lori. She and Buster were fantastic people. She will be missed.
