Arthur R. Reed

Arthur R. Reed, 85, of Bradford passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Aperion Nursing Home in Spring Valley, Illinois. There will be a graveside service at the Osceola Grove Cemetery on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Jan Ringenberg officiating. He was born February16, 1932 to Glenn and Julia (Robinder) Reed. Art was in the Battle of Pork Chop Hill during the Korean War. After returning home he met and married Betty Nye in July 1957. They had 4 children: Art, Dawn, Doneeta and Mike. Art worked at Caterpillar for 30 years as a research engineer. After retiring, he enjoyed tinkering with his tractors and dozers. He was passionate about spending time in the outdoors, as he loved to hunt and spend time in the woods. Art also started making duck and crow calls as a hobby. He was a member of the NRA and the National Trappers Association. Survivors include his dear friend and life partner, Patricia Antrim; his two sons: Art (Chris) Reed of Tiskilwa and Mike Reed of Tiskilwa; four grandchildren: Josh, Jeremy, Jessie, and Gabby; five great-grandchildren: Bayly, Bradyn, Brody, Bryant, and Jayme; two brothers: Don Reed of Sparland and Frank Reed of Bradford and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Frances Robison; one brother, Herb Reed; two daughters: Dawn in infancy and Doneeta in November 2014. Memorials may be directed to the family.
