Anthony William Strunk

Anthony William “Bill” Strunk passed away at his home in Tacoma, Washington on March 2, 2023. Bill was born on July 1, 1959, in Princeton, Illinois. His parents were Captain William Howard Strunk and Mary Barbara (Oakson) Strunk. Bill was a 1977 graduate of Princeton High School, and a graduate of Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.
Bill retired from his professional life in Washington state in 2015. He was a veteran of the manufactured housing industry, holding roles with Greentree and Chase, and most recently with Credit Human, where he served for 11 years as West Region General Manager, working to serve the needs of people seeking financing for affordable housing. During his time in the industry, Bill served on several boards and won numerous awards. He was well respected for his empathy with those whom he met, and his unwavering commitment to his team and his customers. During his tenure, his knowledge and talent built his region into the largest producing region in Manufatured Home Loans across the country. He considered his team to be family, and remained close with friends in the industry, after his retirement.
Bill was predeceased by his father, an Air Force pilot, who died in a jet crash at Nellis Air Force base, two months before he was born, his mother, his brother, Scott, his maternal grandparents, Earl and Lillian Oakson, and his paternal grandparents, Henry and Violet Strunk. He is survived by two sisters, Rebecca Pace of Princeton and Lisa (Gregg) Gondolfi of Ottawa, Il., niece, Whitney(Kent) Tyne of Tiskilwa, Il, their sons Tyler and Dillon Tyne, nephew William “Bill” Pace(Kerry Laing) of Denver, CO., nephew Joseph(Drake Spence) Gondolfi of Chicago, Il., nephew Samuel (Emily) Gondolfi of Oglesby, Il., and nephew Antonio Gondolfi of Chicago, Il.
Bill was a loyal, dedicated, loving and generous son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, colleague and friend. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, dry wit, love of playing games, his status as “UB”( a loving mix of Uncle Bill and Uncle Buck), his affection for the Chicago Cubs and Bulls, his delight in treating his family to adventures, lavish dinners and desserts, his life sized cardboard cutout of Michael Jordan, his black velvet portrait of Elvis Presley, his love for his longtime canine companions, Max and Sam, and his steadfast persistence in life despite his long term health issues, about which he never complained. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
Services will be held in Princeton on Saturday, May 6, 2023, with visitation at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home from 9-10:30 am, funeral Mass at St. Louis Catholic Church at 11:00 am, and lunch to follow at Harkrader Hall.
