Albert Daniel Flaherty, 66, of Princeton died at 8:10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019, at The Family House in Peoria.

 

Born July 15, 1953, in Princeton to Francis and Jane (Miller) Flaherty, he married Martha Marie Drake on Sept. 24, 1977, in Tiskilwa. She survives.

 

A 1972 graduate of Tiskilwa High School, he had several jobs over the years, including at a grocery store in Tiskilwa, Prairie View Nursing Home, Basswood Nursing Home, Perry Memorial Hospital, LCN in Princeton, Surgical Trading Co. in Tiskilwa and Walmart in Princeton.

 

He was a member of the Tiskilwa-Princeton Lions and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tiskilwa. He was a former member of the Illinois Valley Circles and Squares and the Putnam County Button and Bows square dance clubs.

 

Also surviving are a daughter, Rebecca Marie Flaherty of Princeton; three brothers, Robert (Sue) Flaherty of Osprey, Fla., Joseph Flaherty of Miami Beach, Fla., and James Flaherty of Tiskilwa; a sister, Norine Flaherty of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tiskilwa with Father Kevin Creegan and Deacon John Murphy officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service, and burial will take place in Mt. Bloom Cemetery at a later date.

 

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton.

 

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Princeton Lions Club, the family of Albert D. Flaherty and the Organization for Understanding Congenital Hearts in Peoria.
