Laurie Annette Oberle Sabin passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at home surrounded by loved ones in Walnut, IL.

Laurie was born on October 18, 1951 in Princeton, IL to Darrell and Betty Ann (VonHolton) Oberle. Baptized as an infant at Immanuel Lutheran in Rock Falls. Confirmed in her faith in 1965 at Ohio Lutheran. Attended Kasbeer Grade School and Ohio High School.

She married Ray Sabin in 1971. He survives along with her four children, Betzy (Gordon) McLeland of Pleasant Valley, IA, Scott Sabin of Wyanet, Greg (Chris) Sabin of Dawson and Ben (Sabel) Sabin of Birmingham, AL; 6 grandchildren, Alex McLeland, Abby McLeland, Stone Sabin, Krew Sabin, Makanna Sabin and Asher Sabin; four siblings, Christine Preston of San Antonio, TX, Ronnie (Denise) Oberle of Walnut, Jack (Kathy Bruno) Oberle of San Antonio, TX and Kim (Rich) Shone of Granbury, TX, along with several nieces and nephews.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, brother-in-law, Jim Preston and sister-in-law, Carrie Oberle.

She was a member of the Walnut United Methodist Church her adult life, and worked as a registered nurse.

A funeral service of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Walnut United Methodist Church in Walnut, IL with Pastor David Poust officiating. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the donor’s choice.
