Joyce Elizabeth Bickett

Joyce Elizabeth Bickett, 89, of Bloomington, IL formerly of Princeton, IL passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL.

Joyce attended LaMoille schools and, after a year of work at Westclock in Peru, IL, she earned her GED. She went on to work for the Egg Factory in Mendota.

In 1953, Joyce met the love of her life, Alvin L. Bickett. They were united in marriage on December 12, 1954, by her grandfather, Reverend Wesley Blackwell, at the Congregational Church in LaMoille. For over 50 years, Joyce and Alvin lived a life of dedicated partnership, farming together in Southern Bureau County. Their entrepreneurial spirit also led them to own and operate Bickett’s Food Mart in Tiskilwa.

A faithful member of the Princeton United Methodist Church, Joyce deeply loved her church community and served wherever she was needed. She felt truly blessed by her many lifelong friends and took great joy in the new friendships she built over the last six months while living in Bloomington. Joyce was also an active member of the ARC (Activity and Recreation Center) in Normal, IL, where she was embraced like family. She found great pleasure in crafting and following many sports teams (especially the Cubs) but above all else, she cherished the time spent with her family.

Survivors include her two sons, Gregory (Terry) Bickett of Prophetstown and Christopher (Kristen) Bickett of Bloomington; seven grandchildren, David (Amy) Bickett, Jonathan Bickett, Steven Bickett, Angela Bickett, Carlie (Scott) Pries, Jacob Bickett and Stella Bickett; one great- granddaughter, Lucy Bickett; one brother, Herbert (Lois) Blackwell of Zephyrhills, FL, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three siblings, Sally King, Wesley Blackwell and Donna Corley.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of funeral service at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton, IL with Rev. Michael Hickok officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Elm Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Princeton, IL.
