Jane Harris, 99, of Walnut, IL passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Allure of Walnut in Walnut, IL.
Jane was born on December 29, 1926 in Walnut, IL the daughter of Howard and Esther (King) Baumgartner. She married Wayne “Lefty” Harris on September 1, 1946 in Walnut, IL. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1982. Jane was a homemaker and worked at the Ryan Grocery Store in Ohio, IL for several years. Jane was also Camp 15 Secretary and Junior Director for Modern Woodmen Life Insurance for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Walnut. Jane and her husband Wayne loved to travel and visited 48 of the 50 states. She had so many stories of their adventures that she loved to share. Jane also loved to crochet and gifted many baby blankets to friends and family. Jane also crocheted numerous hats over the years which she donated to cancer patients. Jane was a huge sports fan who loved attending as many of her grandchildren’s games as possible over the years. Jane was lovingly referred to as Grandma Jane by all who knew her; and loved spending time with her family more then anything.
Survivors include, one daughter, Sharon Spohn of Princeton; one son, James (Carol) Harris of Princeton; one sister-in-law, Barbara Baumgartner of Princeton; 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren; 4 great-great- grandchildren with another one on the way; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne “Lefty” Harris, her parents, Howard and Esther Baumgartner, three brothers, Kenneth, Leslie and Virden Baumgartner, two sisters-in-law, Peggy and Jerria Baumgartner, son-in-law, Andrew (Junior) Spohn and granddaughter, Michelle Spohn.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. Graveside Service will immediately follow at Elm Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Laura Root-Tanner officiating.
