Gerri Lyn (Mecum) Herren, 61, of Princeton, IL passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at OSF St. Clare in Princeton, surrounded by her loving family.
Gerri was born on June 27, 1963 in Spring Valley, IL the daughter of Donald W. Mecum, Sr. and F. Geraldine (Clark) Mecum. Gerri attended school in Kasbeer and was a 1981 graduate of Princeton High School. She married David A. Herren on October 22, 1983 in Dover, IL. They were married nearly 30 years before his death on March 10, 2012.
Gerri worked as an Assistant Manager at Beck’s for 10 years before her retirement. In 2023 she was nominated by the community and received the Tom Merwin Gold Star Employee award for her excellence in customer service. She was also an avid reader and had a passion for crocheting and crafting. Over the years Gerri crocheted hundreds of blankets for new babies, people fighting cancer, and many other special people in her life. Spending time with family and friends was very important to Gerri and it was what she enjoyed the most.
Gerri is survived by her two brothers, Donald (Christine) Mecum, Jr. of Ohio, IL and Scott (Stacey) Mecum of Kasbeer, IL; three nephews and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am until time of the funeral service at 12:00pm on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Rhonda Hollars officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Limerick Cemetery in Kasbeer.
Memorials may be directed to Gerri’s family, for donations in her memory.

So sorry for your loss. I have lots of fond memories of Gerri Lyn from Kasbeer school. Also just walking around town with her. Her and David bought a Sheltie from me also. It was always good keeping up with what the puppy was doing. I enjoyed keeping up with Gerri Lyn on Facebook. She will truly be missed by all. 😞💗😇
