  1. Dear Marilyn,

I’m so sorry for your loss. We and the world are better for having known Jay.
All my best to you, Marilyn.

    Dede Storer

  2. Marilyn, Tom, Laura and all the Pettigrew’s-
my heart wants to embrace you during this most difficult time. Your care of Jay was extraordinary as he struggled so valiantly. But now he is no longer here, but his spirit is eternal. May you revel in your many memories of this great man – scientist, spouse, father and grandfather, friend to many and giver of gifts to the research world. May God allow you to smile as you remember.

  3. Marilyn,
I was saddened to hear the news of Jay’s passing. Our faith confirms you’ll see him again in eternity. Please know you are in my daily prayers for peace and consolation through this challenging time. Jay fought the good fight his soul is free from this world’s illnesses. May he rest in peace.
    Bob Somrak Jr.

  4. Jay and I were good friends through grade school and high school. In HS we were in band together and part of a quartet selected to go to a competition at the U of I in his junior year. Later on we both went to the U of I. He was a very talented and nice person and his accomplishments demonstrate that.

I am saddened by his passing and my prayers are with him and his family.

  5. May you find moments of peace in the midst of sorrow. Prayers for you and your family .
    Diane and Jeff Gibson

  6. Marilyn,
