Carol Rae Buckman

Carol R Buckman, 86, of Peoria, IL, formerly of Chillicothe and Bradford, passed away at 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at OSF Saint Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL surrounded by family.

Carol was born on November 29, 1938, in Peoria, IL the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Ferris) Cook.  She married Gerald Buckman on March 19, 1955.

Carol is survived by her children, Cynthia (Luis) Ramirez of Springfield, VA; Michael Buckman of Lake in the Hills, IL; Valerie Tardiff of Peoria, IL; Daniel (Mary) Buckman of Granite Falls, WA and David Buckman of Fountain Hills, AZ. Also surviving are her granddaughters, Jillian Bearce, Kellie Wadsworth, Hannah McKenny, and her grandsons Spencer Ramirez and Gerald Buckman. Carol also had five great-grandchildren.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years; her parents; sister, Donna Smith, and brother, Philip Cook.

Carol attended Woodruff High School in Peoria.  She managed Decker’s Family Shoe Store in Chillicothe for many years before retiring to spend time with her grand-children and great-grandchildren

Funeral mass will be at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bradford, IL with Father John Baptist Uwigaba officiating.  Burial will immediately follow at St. John’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford prior to the services on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or any Alzheimer’s charity of your choice.
