Dorothy Ann Quickle, 80, of Sheffield, IL passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in St. Louis, MO.

Dorothy was born on July 27, 1945, in Cabery, Illinois, the daughter of Charlie and Mary (Rambo) Chadd. She graduated from Bradford High School in 1963.

Dorothy married Readus W. Quickle on July 8, 1964, in Danvers, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 6, 2022. She worked at Harper Wyman for 34 years as a foreman, retiring in 2000. Dorothy also attended the Women’s Management Programs in Peoria, IL, an accomplishment she was especially proud of.

Dorothy enjoyed traveling, especially RVing, and was a member of the Good Sam RV Club and the Holiday Rambler RV Club. She was also a member of the Big Horn Sheep Society and Ducks Unlimited. In her free time, she enjoyed photographing wildlife, gardening; winning the title of Master Gardner, as well as hunting and fishing.

Dorothy cherished her miniature schnauzers, Okie and Raven, along with the three that preceded them. Most of all, she loved her family and treasured the time she spent with them.

She is survived by her daughter, Marketa (Neal) Whittinghill of Troy, MO; three grandchildren, Axel, Nash and Nylei Whittinghill; siblings, Charles (Sandy) Chadd and Eugene (Veronica) Chadd; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Mary Louise Morris.

Cremation Rites have been accorded. Private services will be held at a later date. Burial of cremated remains will be in Sheffield Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
