Judy Marie Townsend, 78, of Princeton, IL passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Judy was born on November 4, 1947 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, IL, the daughter of Wilber Augustus and Lois Irene (Hasbrook) Brewer. She married Burton J. Townsend on September 3, 1965 at First Lutheran Church of Princeton. Judy was a 1965 graduate of Princeton High School. She was a homemaker and a daycare provider for many years in her own home. Judy was a member of First Lutheran Church of Princeton and volunteered at Friends of Strays and Finders Keepers in Princeton for several years. Most of all she loved her family and cherished spending time with them.
Judy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Burton Townsend of Princeton; four sons, James (Laurel) Townsend of Ottawa, William (Shannon) Townsend of Princeton, Brad (Elizabeth) Townsend of Tiskilwa and Steven (Crystal) Townsend of Dixon; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond (Barb) Carlson of Mountain Home, AR and one sister, Linda Ouellette of Princeton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant son, Troy Allen on March 3, 1967.
Above all else, Judy treasured her family. She found her greatest joy in time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. Her warmth, quiet strength, and selfless love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton, IL. Private Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.
