Robert Edward McKinnell

Robert Edward McKinnell, 90, of Princeton, IL passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at his home.

Robert was born on April 15, 1935 in Walworth, WI, the son of James and Margaret (Weidenhoft) McKinnell. He started his career as a Dairy Farmer and later went to work for Marland Factory. Robert served honorably in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in September 1956.

He married the love of his life Helen R. Minerick on October 13, 1956 in Fontana, WI at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. They shared 65 years together prior to her passing on November 3, 2021. The couple had 4 children to this union, Mary Ann, Kathleen, Robert and Brian.

Robert was best known for his joking spirit and love of storytelling. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid baseball and college basketball fan. Most of all he cherished spending time with his children and being a dedicated Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his four children, Mary Ann (Ray) Testa of Round Lake Beach, Kathleen (Patrick) Cooper of Princeton, Robert D. (Launa) McKinnell of Elkhorn, WI and Brian McKinnell of Delavan, WI; 5 grandchildren Shannon Cooper, Kyle Cooper, Brandon McKinnell, Kelsey Berres, Brittney Steilkie; seven great-grandchildren, Aiden, Rori Shay, Zoey, Kylee, Cadence, Paige and Harrison; one brother, Neil (Wanda) McKinnell; one sister, Linda Wagner, and many nieces and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents and brother, James McKinnell.

Cremation Rites have been accorded.

Per Robert’s request there will be no Services.
