James “Jim” C. Smith, 83, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at his home in Princeton, IL.

Jim was born on February 11, 1942 the son of Cecil and Marie (Lindner) Smith. He married Darlene Wood on September 9, 1962 at the Methodist Church in Kewanee. Jim worked for Kewanee Boiler for 40 years prior to his retirement in 2000. He served in the United States Army from 1960-1965. Jim was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Kewanee. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bears and Bulls fan. Jim also enjoyed bowling and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Smith of Princeton; three children, Timothy (Shanna) Smith of Mulvane, KS, David Smith of Silvis and Rebekah Smith of Kewanee; seven grandchildren, Stan, Amber, Jessica, Dakota, Cheyenne, Niquel and Brylan; thirteen great-grandchildren, Quinton, Kayden, Owen, Brooklynn, Kyree, Elena, Landen, Phoebe, Parker, Penelope, Lincoln, Lowan and Davie; two sisters, Carol (Milo) Kelly of Elkland, MO and Becky (Rick) Harmon of Rapid City, SD and one brother Raymond (Linda) Smith of Rosamond, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church in Kewanee with Pastor Jayson Garcia, officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 am till 11:00 am at the church. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Burial of the cremated remains will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established in James’ memory.
