Heidi Ann Johnson, 59, of Princeton, IL passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at her home in Princeton.

Heidi was born on November 14, 1965 in Princeton, IL the daughter of Harold “Owen” and Etta “Kay” (Sullivan) Johnson. She had an older sister and younger brother.

After graduating from Princeton Township High School in 1983, Heidi attended Illinois Valley Community College and received her Associates of Arts degree in 1985. Soon after, she started a lengthy career in banking as a teller at a local institution.

In her youth, Heidi vacationed yearly with her family out West, and as an adult was drawn to relocate there. She continued her career in banking, notably at Key Bank in Estes Park and Loveland, as well as Dillon, Colorado, specializing in customer service and management. Heidi won numerous awards and accolades for her customer service and banking knowledge.  She spent 30 years in Colorado before returning home to Princeton with her significant other, Aaron, two years ago, to be closer to family.

Heidi thoroughly enjoyed thrift store shopping, planting flowers, and working in her yard. She was an animal lover and impressive Words With Friends competitor. Heidi was a talented photographer, as well. She is being remembered for her big, beautiful smile and her warm, outgoing personality. Everyone was drawn to Heidi because of her warm, open and friendly nature.

She will be missed dearly by many friends, especially her two childhood lifelong friends, Margaret Hunter and Roger Kaiser.

Heidi was preceded in death by her companion, Aaron Cathcart, in June of 2024.

I will miss her and I am sad I won’t be able to see her one last time, but the time I spent with her I cherish as she was a great friend, co worker, mentor to me. RIP HJ I will always sing and dance to Dancing Queen for us.

  6. I was lucky (literally 7/7/2014) I happened to start my career with Heidi. We both happened to get hired at our Loveland location on that same day! Immediately from day 1 until almost 10 years later Heidi truly made the best years of my career.
Heidi was an amazing spirit, the best coworker and more importantly a true friend. The memories of her and Aaron taking my families photos to the laughter and all the good times shared. That light you brought to this world will never go away!

    Love and miss you friend!

    Condolences to the family

  7. Heidi and I met the first full day of school on the 5th grade. We quickly became friends. She had the brightest smile and warm personality that quickly drew you to her. Though we were close friends through our childhood and part of our high-school years, we somehow drifted apart. Always still remained friends. In our adult years while she was living in Colorado, I would often see her Mom and ask, “How is Heidi doing?” I would run into her whenever she was home visiting and chat with her. I ran into her the second day of her returning home to live back in Princeton, and I met Aarron, whom was with her. They made an excellent couple. Aarron done some photography work for me last year when a deputy retired here at the Court House. He was awesome. Heidi stopped in to see me at work a few times, and I was trying to get her hired on in one of the offices. We would chat it up like usual. I know she was so torn when Aarron passed away last year suddenly. Broke her heart . She list her life long partner. I was heart broken when I was told about Heidi passing away. Age is no longer hurting or in any pain, now that she is reunited with the love of her life. I will muss her dearly. RIP Aarron and Heidi

  8. My heart hurt when I heard of Heidi’s passing. I always felt welcomed by her sweet spirit when she would help me at the bank. I will remember her fondly. Rest in Peace my sweet friend. ❤️
