Maxine P. Bomleny, 96, of Chillicothe formerly of Bradford, passed away on February 12, 2025, at the Arc at Chillicothe in Chillicothe, IL.

Maxine was born on January 28, 1929 in Bradford the daughter of Thomas and Marjorie (Ligget) Scott. She married Billy “Bill” Bomleny on February 18, 1950 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bradford. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2012. Maxine worked at Bradford High School as the cook from 1978 until her retirement in 1988. She was a longtime member of the Altar and Rosary at St. John Baptist Catholic Church as well as a member of the church. Maxine was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Bradford. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and bowling. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them.

Maxine is survived by her two daughters, Sue (Dennis) Taylor of Buda, Mary Ann (Brett) Shatto of Chillicothe; one daughter-in-law, Elaine Bomleny of Sheffield; eight grandchildren, Amy (Justin) Hardin, Greg (Emily) Bomleny, Lori (Andy) Franks, Jeff (Jenny Femali) Bomleny, Mark (Brooke) Bomleny, Alyce (Kevin) Howeler, Kara (John O’Bryant) Shatto, and Ryan Shatto; four step-grandchildren, Lisa (José) Garcia, Kurt (April) Taylor, Steven (Nicole) Taylor and Brian (Allandra) Taylor; 17 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren and six step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Steve Bomleny; eight siblings, Francis Scott, Marguerite Wall, Bill Scott, Lillian Endress, Jack Scott, Harold Scott, Leah Fairfield, Max Scott and one great-grandson, Samuel James Bomleny.

Visitation will be held from 2:00pm-5:00pm, with the recitation of the rosary at 5:00pm on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00pm on Monday, February 17, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father John Thieryoung officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. John’s Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made in Maxine’s name to American Cancer Society.
