Resided in: Princeton , IL

Andrew John Rapp, 38, of Princeton, IL passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on January 13, 2025.

Andy was born on April 1, 1986 in Princeton, IL the son of Robert and Terry (Gross) Rapp. He was a lifelong member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Princeton. Andy graduated from Princeton High School in 2004. He then went on to Heartland Jr. College before transferring to Northern Illinois University and graduating in 2008. Andy went to work at the News Tribune in LaSalle before going to work for the USDA in the Farm Service Agency where he worked 10 years until his passing.

Growing up soccer, golf and JFL, were his favorite sports; he continued to golf into his adulthood and introduced his son to golf.  He was a lifelong Bears and Cubs fan even when they frustrated him. Andy was the founding member of the Burrito Boy Club of IL. He was a people person and loved life. Most of all he loved his fiancé, Elizabeth and his son, Brixen; Andy was a very proud father to his very special guy. Watching Brixen play soccer, JFL and basketball were very special times for him. He attended every game that his health allowed.

Andy loved playing cards, especially 3card with his family, an annual Christmas night tradition.

For 36 years Andy went to his favorite place, Arrowhead Resort in Mercer, WI on the annual family vacation and sometimes joined by good friends. He did it all, kayaking, fishing, swimming, Loon Days, and the boat swamps.

Since October, 2023 Andy had a hard, long road to travel dealing with serious health challenges but through it all he kept his sense of humor and a positive attitude. We thank all of you who offered him encouragement and love.

He is survived by his fiancé, Elizabeth Johnson; his son Brixen Andrew; parents, Bob and Terry Rapp. Along with two brothers, Vince of Princeton and Doug (Jessica) Rapp of Denver, N.C.; his nieces, Kortnie, Jaclynn and Riley; nephews, Adam, Mason and Eli; uncles, aunts and cousins.

Andy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgil and Eddie Gross, Robert and Ruth Rapp and a special lifelong friend, Cory.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00am until time of service at 12:00pm on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Scott Schmidt, officiating. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Andy’s son, Brixen Rapp for any future expenses he may encounter.
