Garold Wayne Howes

Garold (Gari) Wayne Howes, 87 of Princeton, passed away on October 1, 2023 at OSF Saint Clare Medical Center in Princeton. He was born in Mineral, IL to Elijah and Mabel Howes on February 23, 1936. Gari served in the United States Navy from 1953-1957 during the Korean War Conflict. He then transferred to the Reserves and continued to serve until 1961. Gari retired from Allegion (LCN) after working 30 years in the shipping department.
Gari is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marlene (Baker) Howes and their three daughters, Mindy Howes, Tina (Arthur) Glidden and Cheley Howes; five grandchildren, Chasmin Crew (Ben), Joshua Puyear, Ryan Grover (Alina), Chayse Thompson (Margo) and Jayde Howes; also, eight great grandchildren; one step-grandchild; seven great great grandchildren; two step great great grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy (Bob) Forward.
Gari is preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Mabel and half sister, Louise Huber.
There will be no public services, but visitors are welcome at Gari and Marlene’s home.

Marlene — Just saw today that your hubby passed. Very sorry for your loss. Many years together! Trust you doing ok. Myself & wife have lived in Peru about 18 years after getting run out on a rail from Wyanet. Nida works as RN @ Illinois Veterans Home. She has been sick after cancer having hard time. She retiring in 14 months. LOVE & CONCERN FOR YOU!
