Darrell Raymond Oberle

Darrell Raymond Oberle, 95, of Walnut passed peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 7:30am.  He was born March 25,1928, in Geneseo, to parents Raymond and Rose (Van de Velde) Oberle.  He married Betty Ann Von Holten on March 3, 1950, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Falls.  He graduated from Walnut High School with the class of 1945.

Darrell and Betty started their life in Walnut and began farming in 1954, near Kasbeer.  Darrell loved the farm life and continued this career into his nineties.  He served honorably in the Marines from September 1945 to September 1949.  He served on both the Kasbeer and Ohio School Boards.  Darrell was a superb card player.  Surviving are his five children;  Christine Preston of San Antonio, TX, Laurie (Ray) Sabin of Walnut, Ronnie (Denise) Oberle of Walnut, Jack Oberle (Kathy Bruno) of San Antonio, TX,  Kim (Rich) Shone of Grapevine, TX.  He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grand children, Aunt Joann (Judd) Doty and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his sister, Vivian Odell, daughter-in-law, Carrie Oberle and son-in-law Jim Preston.

Cremation rites are being accorded.  He will buried at the Van Orin Repose Cemetery at a later date with Military Rites.  Memorials may be directed to: Donor's Choice.
