Robert Leo Scardon died November 16, 2018.

  He was born October 1, 1928 in West Frankfort, IL the only child of Mike and Maggie (Michael & Marguerite Scoville) Scardon. He had a carefree childhood growing up in a little town along the Illinois river, playing basketball, clarinet, and fishing. He graduated from Morgan Park Military Academy in Chicago and attended Bradley University.

  April 22, 1950 he married Lois Jeanette Benefield , the love of his life. She preceded him in death December 3, 2010. Together they raised a family as he worked in construction and engineering for Catepillar, Clark Equipment, and Sundstrand after which he work in sales for Daniel Radiator Corporation. In 1986 he started his own company with his son, from which he retired in 1994.

  Bob loved his family, cooking, gardening, and fishing. He was an avid reader and kept abreast of politics and world affairs. He loved a good debate.

  He is survived by his daughters Roberta Scardon of Los Angeles and Stephanie Scardon Bradley of Rockford, son Charles (Charla Rehor) of Elmhurst and their children, Michael and Nicholas Scardon, son in law Chris Sutton of Woodland Park, CO and sons, Eric and Matthew Sutton.

 He was preceded in death by his daughter Michelle Sutton, his wife, his

parents and son-in law, William.

  Bob’s children would like to thank his doctors, nurses, and caregivers from OSF Peoria cardiac unit, Perry Memorial Hospital, and Liberty Village. Dad thought you were great.

Arrangements by Grant-Johnson Funeral Home. There will be a private service for family and friends, Friday, November 23. Memorials may be made to Perry Memorial Hospital or Morgan Park Academy. Online condolences may be sent to www.grant-johnsonfh.com.

  1. Roberta and Family: I am so sorry for you loss of your Dad. I remember him as being a pretty cool Dad when we were hanging around and I also respected him and your Mother so much. I often wondered where they had located since leaving the house on Euclid Ave. May God guide you through your loss.
